Arrow Weight and F.O.C. (Front of Center)

FOC stands for Front of Center balance point, or front of Center Mass. This measurement comes from the relative weights of all the components used in the front of the arrow vs. the back of the arrow and distributed across the entire weight of the arrow shaft. An ideal FOC arrow measurement is between 12% to 16%. This calculator is a close estimate to what your verified actual FOC will be.

Kinetic Energy Calculator

Kinetic energy is the power potential of the arrow at the target which comes from the arrow's weight and speed combination. In a hunting application, power potential = arrow penetration potential.

It is our opinion that for smaller game hunting applications such as coyotes or turkeys, your kinetic energy should be ideally at least 30 ft/lbs. For larger game such as deer, antelope, elk, boar, and black bear at least 42-65 ft/lbs. And for the largest of big game like Grizzly Bear & Cape Buffalo at least 65+ ft/lbs.

Enter arrow weight and arrow speed below to calculate the Kinetic Energy of your setup. Use actual verified arrow speed vs simply using speed from your bow specs. Bow specs are rarely if ever what your actual arrow speed is with your arrows being shot out of your bow.

Your approximate Kinetic Energy is: ft-lbs.
